Deciding to leave the band at the end of 2007, Jill performed her final stint with the band when she joined us at Kharagpur, West Bengal in January '08; she was our very own Clare Torry and Dick Parry all rolled into one compact and bijoux package with vocals and sax! Her rendition of ‘Great Gig in the Sky’ always provoked rapturous applause from our audiences, often during the song’s performance. |

Jill Palmer
Vocals and Saxophone
I was born, and live, in Rugby. My father was a jeweller and my mother is actor Alun Armstrong’s cousin. My maternal grandfather played piano and my grandmother sang soprano, for the silent movies! He also had a dance band. Mum sang in a choral group and Dad constantly whistled! Consequently family life was steeped in music. I enjoyed ballet and ballroom dancing, elocution and acting and a multitude of sports including gymnastics, tennis and hockey for Warwickshire U16s. I studied piano to grade 5 as a teenager but found myself lured away from classical music in favour of rock ‘n’ roll! It was listening to Radio Luxemburg under the covers that did it!
