Name: Peter ( The Vox ) Thompson
DOB: 10 October 1968
Residing:
Northampton, ( previously Egham, Richmond, Kingston, Falmouth, Wycombe to name but a few )
Personal Profile/Goals/Ambitions in music:
I live in Northampton, married to the lovely Louise ( more about her in a minute ). I work as a freelance kitchen and furniture designer by day but live for music. Floyd has been my life after being introduced to it by my brother, even to the extent that I am the proud owner of a tattoo of the 1994 Pink Floyd tour logo on my arm ( that’s dedication ). I’ve been involved in music in one form or another for most of my life. Although not a “true musician” in the sense that I didn’t study it, I was raised on everything from rock to classics and one of my earliest memories was banging on pots and pans with a pair of knitting needles, much to the annoyance of my mother. Yes you guessed it, I grew up into a drummer !!! I did try to learn guitar but soon traded it for my first and only drum kit, a Tama Rockstar in Gunmetal Metallic. Probably the best investment I ever made as I still use it now. I have played drums for many years but only got into singing by accident as the singer in a previous rock combo decided to quit leaving gigs to do and no one to sing. As I’d done a bit of amateur dramatics I stepped in and the rest is history. The singing got more and the drumming was tailored into the percussion I now perform as part of the show. I joined Breathe back in the days of it’s previous incarnation “Out the Flesh”, not long before the now infamous “ I’m NOT working with you, you, or you !! “ meeting where we culled half the band to develop what we have now.
Achievements:
As I said, I was raised on Floyd by my brother Dave who died in June 06. I had always had a dream of being in a Floyd tribute band and I was fortunate to perform in front of my brother just months before he passed. This has been one of the proudest moments of my life. My dream now is to play the Royal Albert Hall. My life’s achievements are simple. I am married to the amazing Louise who is now the band’s lighting director and all round lampy and we have a fab time traveling the world when we can. The band is obviously a big part of my life. I couldn’t ask for a better group of people to play and tour with. Our rock and roll moments include tea & cakes at 2 in the morning !! and skimming stones at Bournemouth beach ( boy do we know how to have fun !!). Seriously though, you will not find a band of more passionate musicians anywhere else.
Musical Career History: I’ve played mostly in rock covers bands such as Trampus, Head 2 Head, The Hoax, Murphy’s Law, Nasty Little Cut, Bridgestreet, and now Breathe.
