It's a little known fact, but one which is borne out in Syd Barrett's published diaries that "See Emily Play" was written after a gig on 6th May 1967 in a building that was then called Kitson College in Leeds. This edifice is now the Leeds College of Technology & to mark the event they've put up a commemoration plaque. As further celebration, five of the band took a jaunt up to Leeds on Friday 27th April to play the song & generally join in with this 40th anniversary.

A little history:
There is inevitably a lengthy tale of trial & tribulation that, at some point, may be documented during an introspective moment; but for now here's the basics:
There was a Tribute Band "Out the Flesh" that got together in early 2004 who practised and gigged, playing some Pink Floyd classics; there was definitely some things that were RIGHT, it was fun and there was some PASSION for instance, but there were undoubtedly elements which didn't quite make the grade; the quality wasn't consistent.
Frustrations within "Out the Flesh" peaked in June 2005 & progress reached a hiatus. Some of the players decided that this particular chapter was over - An almost Floydian Split!
Fresh faces were identified and "BREATHE" rose from the ashes; a team started to evolve who would all share a "no compromise" goal in re-creating the music of Pink Floyd and who had the ability to deliver.
Evolution is, by it's very nature, ongoing and as such we embrace it to gain the benefit. If YOU feel that you would be able to contribute to the Breathe Collective as a player, check us out HERE
Performing with up to eight players in the on-stage team we are able to recreate many of the textures and layers that are to be found in Pink Floyd's post 1970's work, this is therefore our main focus; the band is disciplined in recreating the works but each player is given the space to deliver with their own personal slant. The result? A passionate homage to the music which we respect & love.

In January 1966 Pink Floyd made their debut appearance under that name at “The Countdown Club” in London. The line-up was:
Syd Barrett (Vox and Guitar)
Nick Mason (Drums)
Roger Waters (Vox and Bass)
Rick Wright (Keys)
The Band plays for five hours and earns a fee of fifteen pounds.
Dave Gilmour joins the group on stage two years later, covering for Syd, "who was becoming increasingly unreliable".

Following an acrimonious & well documented split & despite predictions that Pink Floyd would never perform together again, our heroes, minus Syd, got together on stage at the Make Poverty History "Live8" gig in July 2005. Rumours abound; Will they? Won't they? The jury is out
In the meantime you can BREATHE - The Delicate Sound of Floyd.

| Us and Them |
Interest in the music created by Pink Floyd continues to maintain giddy heights even without the band as a single unit doing their thing. The fan-base continues to grow, due in some part, to the determination of talented Pink Floyd "Tribute" Shows around the globe "doing their bit" and maintaining accessibility to the songs; we aim to play our part in celebrating the songs, and at the same time we have the benefit of playing music that has genuinely touched each member of the band in some way, to like-minded audiences. We are truly lucky.
The Breathe performance is presented as a self-contained show using a mix of Modern Technology, definitive arrangements, passion and "Good Old-Fashioned Musicianship" without any backing tracks.
Given enough space to set up our instruments we are happy to perform pretty much anywhere
because, after all, IT'S THE MUSIC THAT WILL ALWAYS TAKE CENTRE STAGE |
